Sneak Peek at our Junior High Competition Dance Team during rehearsal

Above you see the Hip Hop B squad of our competition dance team at their first rehearsal. Dancers are working hard to connect to the audience through eye contact, facial and physical expression.
The team is making Herrera History by being part of the very first competition team. With hardwork each and every rehearsal, they are sure to make Herrera proud at competition in May of this year!

Hip Hop Moves..Stars in the Making!

Mr.Medina's 5th graders have worked hard to learn fundamental dance movements. In order to prepare to learn new choreography for their upcoming performance in May, they have been working on a hip hop combination. Students are continually honing their skills in dance technique and musicality!

Exploring Ballet Movement...

Kinder, 1st, and 2nd grade have recently taken on a new form of dance, ballet. After creating a brainstroming chart to gather information, studying a pair of pointe shoes, and studying a professional performance of "The Nutcracker", the students were ready to take on ballet based movement. The above video depicts, Maestra Pozo's Kinder students practicing releve bouree acorss the floor.

Herrera's Dancers Rock the Stage!

Congrats to our junior high dancers, "Art of Dance", for a fabulous performance on December 16th, 2011. The hard work that students put into their studies paid off and was well demonstrated in their routines. Hip hops moves in "Love Sick"and "On the Floor" were a huge hit! Our step routine, "Acapella Beats" was not one to be forgotten. Students had fans on their feet as they "Party Rocked"!

Check back often for info on upcoming performances.

A big shout out also goes to our Kinder, 1st, and 2nd grad dancers. Their "Holiday Extravanganza" was a phenomenal show. Students danced to such tunes as "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree", "Last Christmas", and Winter Wonderland"!

I am so proud of all dancers who took the stage and am looking forward to more performances to come!
